I started painting because of the rain, a texture I didn’t want to emboss my photography with but somehow create anew. I wanted to suggest a spirituality to the rain so patterns sometimes have hidden symmetry and use ultramarine paint as well as a few are diptychs. Each is titled, dated, and signed on all four sides, giving them no true proper orientation to be hung, which I hope adds to long term viewing and change of a frozen composition. They also are made of only oil paint on canvas or wood board, so they are still qualify to be in the classic oil painting tradition.
Each piece is named after water I have lived near, and the feelings that it gave me are reflected in the painting. They are meant to be displayed with no correct orientation.
